Ginkakuji: The silver temple posted Sunday, November 20, 2005 Kyoto has many great temples and shrines, Ginkakuji (ginka meaning silver) was designed to outshine them all. This Zen temple was established in 1482. Unfortunately, the silver that was to make this temple shine never made it on the cedar walls, leaving a beautiful, yet subtle, temple at the base of Mt. Daimonji.
After walking through the Zen gardens, we stroled down the philosophers walk into the centre of Kyoto.
Enjoy!
