Alisha and Scott GET MARRIED!!! posted Thursday, October 27, 2005 It was a perfect sunny and warm Brisbane, Australia day in Spring when Scott and Alisha finally tied the knot. Saturday October 8th, 2005 to be exact.
A little bit of history:
Jonas and I got to know Alisha first of the twosome here in Japan, having worked with her at Nova for some months.
She'd left Scott behind (temporarily) in Brissie to come work and live abroad - a long-time dream of hers. No sooner had she arrived, did she start anticipating his joining her, boy did she miss him. It turns out the short stint of singledome (in a matter of speaking) was too much for her - being smitten with Scott as she was. She did all of the preparations finding a new apartment by the Osaka harbour and generally getting things ready for his unlikely homecoming to a strange land. At this point they'd talked about marriage, but as yet there were no rings on fingers so to speak.
Jonas and Scott became fast friends after much to Lisha (and her friends') relief he finally got here. Jonas and Scott'd go for long jogs around Osaka talking about relationships and how fast weddings happen once the proposal has been formalized. Scott insisted he wanted a long engagement and was in no hurry. Jonas tried to quell this myth of possibility, but he still kept his intentions of proposing soon, quiet.
During this time Alisha's parents came to Osaka for a visit, and without her knowing it during their stay (I think, I'm a little foggy on the specifics) Scott asked Mr. Richardson for his daughter's hand. Needless to say he consented, and not long afterward Scott proposed.
Now, Jonas had mentioned that things would move quickly and they did. Not long after the plans and planes were in motion, because Scott and Alisha moved back to Brisbane, and the next 12 months would be a whirlwind of wedding planning.
We were sad to see them leave Japan, and still miss them greatly, but what better excuse is needed to visit Australia than two friends getting married?
So on October 5th we set off to Brisbane, arriving October 6th, and two days later the deed was done.
The outdoor ceremony was beautiful. Lisha was stunning. Scott was dapper. The venue, Chez Richardsons, was elegantly set up. The entire day went smoothly, and everyone, had a fantastic time!
Congratulations to Alisha and Scott Taggert. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful day with us. Our first trip to OZ was most memorable, all the more special not only because of the wedding, but your hospitality and generosity as well. All the best to you both in your love together. Can't wait to see you in Canada when we get back!
