Hiroshima; 3rd year anniversary! posted Thursday, August 11, 2005 What a year it has been! One year since climbing to the top of mount Fuji, our adventures continue. We have snorkled off the Thailand coast, climbed the Great wall, saw a woolly mamoth, polished the shine on Kinkakuji (the golden temple) and more.
Our latest stop: Hiroshima. One of the most infamous places in the world, as being the sight of the first atomic bomb in history on August 6th, 1945. 60 years and 4 days after that day, Laura and I made our way to the quaint modern city of Hiroshima.
We were lucky to spend two days in Hiroshima enjoying the local sights and flavours. It was also our first ride on Japan's fastest train: the Shinkansen, clocked at well over 300km per hour.
Our first day focused on peace memorial garden and the A-bomb dome. Day 2, we visted beautiful Miyajima, one of the three most beatiful sights in Japan.
